This is an information resource mainly written for trans US citizens considering emigrating to another country, although we hope it is useful beyond that.

Please treat this wiki as a starting point for your own research, not as an authoritative source of truth or as legal advice.

Many of the authors have gone through the process themselves and want to share what they have learned.

Outdated info regarding crossing into Canada

I received the following info. Could someone with more Canada expertise check this and update the mentioned section:

This part of the Canadian entry: "The Canadian border has been closed to non-essential travel because of COVID-19; it’s perfectly sensible for Canada to not allow the US’s mismanagement of COVID-19 to result in the epidemic growing in Canada. Thus, all skilled immigrants entering Canada must prove that their travel is essential, that their Canadian employer is still operating, and that they have plans to self-isolate for 14 days after arriving in Canada. Fortunately for software professionals, our work falls under the umbrella of “critical infrastructure” and can still be done from remote worksites at home. " <--- is not current. Americans can cross into Canada with no issue and they get the regular six month tourist visa
