Talk:Netherlands
DIY
Regarding DIY, it looks like testosterone is a controlled substance in NL (but decriminalised for small quantities). Something about the law on this might be helpful, just to be clear that it wouldn't count as a criminal act that could affect future citizenship. InkyPrinter
Asylum (UPDATED SATISFACTORILY)
Still reads as too optimistic regarding the chances of US citizens being granted asylum unless NL or the EU formally recognises the persecution of trans people in the US, as - although the idea of the Safe Countries list was scrapped in the European Parliament - functionally speaking, safe countries style assessment remains in all EU asylum claims processes and we have not yet seen any changes in that.InkyPrinter
I think we should stay from Asylum processes. I don't see that happen anywhere soon that americans get asylum.
I think it needs to be explicitly mentioned that it's not currently an option, but some people believe it is. InkyPrinter
Things to add - sections
- Disability - accessibility around the country and potential impact on visa applications, private insurance requirements, etc.
- Experience of racialised immigrants - national attitudes towards Black people have been mentioned, but there needs to be more here, ideally from racialised contributors or based on personal testimonies of people affected.
- Since Citizenship by Marriage is mentioned, residency visas for partners of NL and EU citizens should also be mentioned at some point, as trans US Americans in relationships with Dutch people might end up here as well.

FYI: there is information about residency visas for partners here: https://ind.nl/en/residence-permits/family-and-partner/residence-permit-for-partner
